Senior Telecom Engineer (Abu Dhabi)

Formulates and evaluates pre engineering and engineering concepts, designs and development for telecommunication systems.
Associated with the Company’s oil and gas production, pressure maintenance, transport and export.
Ensuring technical integrity and HSE requirements are met cost effectively throughout the development cycle.
Includes providing expert/Consultancy service to other engineers/users, endorsing/approving designs for modification and/or requests for engineering support in the field of telecommunication.
Reviews and approves engineering codes and standards used in design and development projects. Evaluates and approves project strategies prior to presentation to management. Provides technical advice to operating divisions on all relevant engineering aspects.
Telecommunication systems include: Telephony and Tele-traffic Engineering; Data Communication and Transmission Protocols; Radio Propagation, Antenna and Feeder theories; Satellite Communication Services; Structured Telecommunication Networks; Microwave and Fiber Optic Technology; Digital Cellular Radio Systems; and SCADA and Telemetry.
Conducts feasibility studies and/or provides specialist advice regarding systems applications, utilization of equipment or the resolution of various technical problems.
Provides technical expertise for the design, engineering, construction and commissioning of telecommunication and SCADA projects Develops large scale conceptual design options for telecom system staking all relevant factors into consideration.
Leads the investigation of technical and financial aspects of project work as related to telecom systems and equipment according to general project requirements.
Evaluates/endorses modification requests involving a wide variety of telecom systems. Review pertinent data and verify validity and feasibility of the modification request.
Review and endorses recommendations. Cost estimates & appropriate technical back-up.
Review and endorses conceptual designs and specifications for approved modifications.
Uses expertise to challenge effectively current policies/standards and to develop new techniques or approaches to improve operating performance.
Support projects group during engineering, construction and commissioning. Identifies, defines and solves complex, multi-disciplinary problems.
Reviews and endorses tender and contract documents related to telecommunication equipment/projects.
Endorses selection of equipment including investigation and recommendation of suppliers and tenders analysis.
Keeps up-to-date with international standards and codes for telecommunication to ensure that Company’s standards are updated.
Participates in the preparation of the EMPD business plan as applicable to his discipline.
Participates in the training and development of assigned UAE national employees.
Includes preparing structured development / familiarisation programs, monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees, as required.
Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.
Minimum Requirements:-
B.Sc. degree in Electronic/Communication Engineering, or equivalent. 12 years experience in maintenance and development of capital projects related to telecommunication and telemetry systems including 5 years within the oil industry.
